The World Super Kabaddi League (WSKL) plans to launch its first season in 2026 and bring players from many countries to one stage. Organisers will host the opening matches in Dubai between February and March.

The league will have eight teams, each will include both Indian and international players to create a true global kabaddi event. Countries like South Korea, Iran, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Canada, and the US supported this plan. About 20 national leagues have confirmed they will take part.

SJ Uplift Kabaddi owns and runs the league. They plan to grow Kabaddi outside India and help it become an Olympic sport. The league will offer matches, training, and fan events all year, even during the off-season.

Founder Sambhav Jain says the league will give kabaddi the big stage it needs. With strong support from the International Kabaddi Federation and a Rs 48 crore player purse, the league shows real promise for the sport’s future.

Star defender Jonny Evans has officially retired from football after a career that spanned 19 years and over 500 club appearances. He ends his journey on the pitch and takes on a new role behind the scenes as Manchester United’s Head of Loan and Pathways.

In his new job, Evans will work closely with director of football Jason Wilcox alongside the club’s academy director. His focus is aimed at helping young players grow through well-planned loan moves. ‘I am looking forward to working with the next generation of talented players to support them to reach their potential,�he noted.

Evans shared his feelings about this new milestone, saying that he’s retiring with ‘pride, gratitude, and excitement for the next chapter ahead.�He thanked everyone who shaped his journey, from staff to players and his fans.

Evans first joined Man Utd’s academy as a teen and went on to play 241 matches for the club between 2006 and 2025. With Man Utd, Evans won three Premier League titles, two League Cups, an FA Cup, and the 2008 Champions League trophy.

Washington Freedom pulled off a thrilling two-wicket win over MI New York to grab their third straight victory in the tournament.

Mitchell Owen powered Washington’s reply to MI New York’s 189 with a blistering 60 off 26 balls. He hit three sixes in one over and pushed the team to 74/2 by the end of the powerplay. MI New York struck back after Owen fell in the eighth over. Michael Bracewell ran Edwards out, and Trent Boult bowled Glenn Maxwell as Washington lost wickets at regular intervals.

Naveen-ul-Haq and Boult bowled tight overs at the death, giving away little and picking up wickets. Chapman stayed calm under pressure. He hit 14 runs off the 19th over, which left Washington needing three in the final over.

Quinton de Kock’s 55 and Michael Bracewell’s quick 42 helped MI New York reach 188/4. However, their strong total wasn’t enough as Washington Freedom held their nerve.

Everton are set to sign Fulham right-back Kenny Tete on a free transfer after 39-year-old Ashley Young’s contract was not renewed. Manager David Moyes wants to bolster his team to prepare for the upcoming English Premier League season.

Moyes wants to fix the right side of his team’s defence, and Tete, 29, has become his top choice since his contract with Fulham ends this month. The London club wanted to keep him, but Everton moved quickly. Talks over a three-year deal are already at an advanced stage.

Tete has played 14 times for the Netherlands and has nearly five years of Premier League experience.

Riot Games has announced a new League of Legends tournament for women in the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa). The ’Game Changers�event will start this summer with an inaugural tournament called LGC Rising, and end with a live final in October at Paris Games Week.

Riot said they want to bring the same positive impact of Game Changers in VALORANT to League of Legends. ‘This isn’t just a one-off tournament,�the company noted. ‘It’s the beginning of a new path.�/p>

The format is inspired by Riot’s successful VALORANT Game Changers, which helped grow women’s esports. Riot hopes to bring in well-known names like G2 Hel, SK Gaming Avarosa, and Vitality Rising Bees. Newer teams from local leagues can also take part.

Many in the community see this as a key moment for League of Legends. With more support and structure, this new league could make the game more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

Manchester City has been fined £1.08 million for delaying kick-offs and restarts in nine Premier League games during the 2024-25 season. The club has 14 days to pay the fine, which is less than the £2.09 million fine they received last 2023-24 season.

The Premier League confirmed that City broke the League’s Rule L.33, which states that any club that delays matches without good reasons shall be dealt with disciplinary action. The club’s biggest delay was during the Manchester derby, where they held up play for two minutes and 24 seconds.

Another notable delay happened in November 2024 when City started their match against Tottenham late to hold a short Ballon d’Or ceremony for midfielder Rodri. That moment caused a delay of one minute and 38 seconds.

The League said these delays affect match broadcasts and scheduling. City accepted the ruling and issued an apology, adding they’ve reminded players and staff to follow time rules more carefully.

India and England announced a new trophy for their Test series to honour two of cricket’s biggest stars. The BCCI and ECB have introduced the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. It’s replacing the Pataudi Trophy (used in England) and the Anthony De Mello Trophy (used in India).

India and England will use the new trophy for every Test series between them, starting with the five-match series in England this summer. The trophy shows the faces and signatures of James Anderson, who took the most wickets as a fast bowler, and Sachin Tendulkar, who scored the most runs in Test cricket.

Tendulkar said Test cricket built his career and taught him key life lessons. Anderson called the honour personal and said it reflects the strong rivalry and respect between the two teams.
