Played two seasons at Santa Barbara City College (2006-08) and transferred to California State University-Chico, an NCAA Division II program commonly referred to as Chico State, for his final two seasons (2008-10).

Named the 2008-09 California Collegiate Athletic Association Newcomer of the Year and earned a 2009 All-CCAA laurel; he was Chico State's lone qualifier for the 2009 NCAA Division II Championships.
