Byeong Hun An

Personal

Parents, Jae Hyung Ahn (father, South Korea) and Zhimin Jiao (mother, China), were international medalists in table tennis, and both earned medals at the 1988 Olympics held in Seoul, South Korea.

Father, Jae Hyung Ahn, taught him to play golf when he was 5, and the first club he hit was a 1-iron.

Moved to the United States in December 2005 to attend the David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Favorite sports team is Tottenham Hotspur F.C.

College teammates with Max Homa and Brandon Hagy in his only season at University of California - Berkeley (2010-11). Homa and Hagy were both sophomores at the time.

Made history when he became the youngest winner of the U.S. Amateur, capturing the 2009 title at age 17, defeating Ben Martin, 7 and 5, in the 36-hole final at Tulsa's Southern Hills CC.

Played one collegiate season (2010-11) at University of California - Berkeley before he turned professional; he posted a 72.9 scoring average and four top-fives but went without a victory.
